Who we are
NHS Test and Trace brings together testing, contact tracing and outbreak management into an end-to-end service, helping prevent the spread of COVID-19, protect local communities and save lives.
Our purpose
We’re here to protect people, families and communities. Our aim is to break chains of COVID-19 transmission to help people to return towards a more normal way of life.

How do we do this?
We work with communities, local government, Public Health England (PHE) and other partner organisations to deliver our objectives:
- Test to find people who have COVID-19 and ensure they self-isolate along with their recent contacts to avoid passing on the virus.
- Manage and reduce the risk of outbreaks in local communities.
- Help individuals, businesses and public services to understand and manage risks of COVID-19 transmission.
- Build a trusted service for the citizens who use it.
