About us

“NHS Test and Trace has been built at unprecedented pace and scale, but we do not operate alone. To meet the greatest public health challenge we have seen in modern times, we have been working with and through valued partners across the country.

“We’ve formed partnerships with the public and private sector, and with national and local organisations, developing an integrated, localised approach supported by our brilliant public health teams in Public Health England and local authorities. But we’re also working with every single person across the country. NHS Test and Trace is a service that only works when we work together, with everyone playing their part. Come and join our team of teams for what will be a really rewarding experience. Play your part and help save lives.”

Who we are

NHS Test and Trace brings together testing, contact tracing and outbreak management into an end-to-end service, helping prevent the spread of COVID-19, protect local communities and save lives.

Our purpose

We’re here to protect people, families and communities. Our aim is to break chains of COVID-19 transmission to help people to return towards a more normal way of life.

How do we do this?

We work with communities, local government, Public Health England (PHE) and other partner organisations to deliver our objectives:

  1. Test to find people who have COVID-19 and ensure they self-isolate along with their recent contacts to avoid passing on the virus.
  2. Manage and reduce the risk of outbreaks in local communities.
  3. Help individuals, businesses and public services to understand and manage risks of COVID-19 transmission.
  4. Build a trusted service for the citizens who use it.
